Over the last twelve months I have been volunteering with small charities. Most have an email address and use social media a few even had a website. In short that’s the basics covered.
However what I did discover was the basics could be fine tuned to work even better for not a lot of money or effort. In short if you are going to take your charity on a digital journey its pays to get it right from the start and this course is really all about fine tuning the basics.
As you will discover in the course I am a fan of using video especially when it comes to winning funding. Like most things in life everyone is a cynic until they see proof.
I recently made a video for a charity applying for funding. They were up against eight other charities. They won the bid; mainly because they were the only ones to show the awarding panel, in video, what they were spending the money on.
The video is included as part of this course so you be the judge.
Finally some shameless self promotion for the Acorn Community Centre where we offer courses on everything you will see in this course and more

What this course is not
- It’s not for experts or guru’s in digital marketing.
- It’s not about strategy or in depth web analytics
- It’s not for large organisations that should know all this stuff
Background
The need for The Charity Digital Code of Practice was identified following the Lloyds Bank UK Business Digital Index 2017, which showed only 48% of charities have full basic digital skills, and 50% of charity leaders lack confidence in introducing digital change.

I believe digital shouldn’t just be for large organisations with big budgets, hence this course.
